Caught in the Storm: A Holiday Birdwatching Adventure and Click Little Cormorant

We often spend our holidays looking for a grand escape, forgetting that some of the best stories are waiting right outside our daily routine. On a recent day off, I decided to revisit a familiar spot with a fresh perspective—the serene lake right next to my office building.

With my camera in hand, I sat quietly on a wooden ferry boat (*kheya*), watching the gentle ripples of the water. That is when I spotted this striking, jet-black beauty perched gracefully on a wooden stump in the middle of the lake: **The Little Cormorant**.

## Meeting the Lakeside Resident

The lake was peaceful, and this magnificent water bird gave me the perfect opportunity to practice my wildlife photography.

As you can see in **1000011933.jpg**, it sat regally with its back to me, its glossy feathers catching the subtle light as it scanned the water.

Shortly after, it provided an even more spectacular view, beautifully captured in **Little Cormorant**. Cormorants are famous for this exact pose—spreading their wings wide while perched to dry off their feathers after a deep dive for fish. Watching it silhouetted against the vast expanse of the water was truly mesmerizing.

## When Nature Had Other Plans

Just as I was thoroughly enjoying this peaceful photography session, nature decided to throw a dramatic plot twist.

Out of nowhere, the calm atmosphere vanished. A sudden, fierce, stormy wind began to howl across the lake, and heavy raindrops started splattering down.

Realizing my expensive camera gear was in immediate danger, panic kicked in! I didn't even have time to neatly pack everything. I hastily shoved the camera into my bag, zipped it up, and ran for cover as fast as I could.

> **The Sanctuary:** Sprinting through the blinding downpour, I managed to find shelter under a roof nearby, which uniquely housed a serene statue of Jesus Christ.

As I stood there catching my breath, the sky completely opened up. The rain poured relentlessly, keeping me trapped under that peaceful shelter for nearly a full hour.

## Reflections After the Rain

Though my quiet holiday afternoon took an unexpected, chaotic turn, looking back at these photographs makes it all worth it. There is a unique beauty in how quickly nature can shift from absolute tranquility to raw power. I went out looking for a simple picture of a bird, but I walked away with a memorable little adventure.
